About us
KIPP: the Knowledge Is Power Program
KIPP schools began in 1994 when two visionary educators, Mike Feinberg and Dave Levin, launched schools committed to the philosophy of doing whatever it takes for students to succeed. Teaching longer school days, Saturdays, and in the summer was only the beginning. The school focused on taking no shortcuts to meeting their students’ needs. Teachers gave out home phone numbers, students earned educational trips around the country, and extra-curricular activities gave students confidence and life experience. The results were outstanding. Today there are 45 KIPP schools in 15 states and the District of Columbia. KIPP Believe College Prep will be the first KIPP school in Louisiana.
